Build a Bigger Library from the Game You Own

Each expansion adds a new kind of table drama: dangerous rooms, darker choices, co-operative survival and the first journey outside into the Garden Maze.

How the world grows

Start with the core game, then choose how strange you want the Library to become.

The expansion line is designed to respect the game players have already bought. Add modules gradually, combine them for larger sessions, or build towards the most epic Victorian horror adventure ever by jove.

Expand the Library

A Bigger Mansion. A Stranger Game.

The core game is only the beginning. Horror in the Library is designed as a growing Victorian horror system: add new rooms, slot in new decks, introduce new characters and make each session feel more unpredictable without asking players to relearn the game from scratch.

The Collector’s Expansion builds directly onto the board game you already own. It expands the mansion layout, adds the Kitchen and Laboratory, introduces new cards and brings in modules that can be used separately or combined for a bigger, more chaotic night in the Library.

The Collector’s Expansion

A major boxed expansion for players who want more danger, more choices and more ways to explore the Library. It builds on the core game rather than replacing it, adding new rooms, cards, characters and modes of play.

Build the Library Your Way

When we demo Horror in the Library, we normally set the room tiles out as a simple 3 × 3 grid because it is easy to teach, easy to see and quick for new players to understand.

But the Library does not have to be a neat square. The core game box includes 9 room tiles, and the Collector’s Expansion adds 7 more room tiles. You can arrange those rooms in different shapes, create side areas, add the Laboratory / Kitchen tile, or make the mansion even bigger by combining tiles from another expansion or another main game.

Room tile rules

  • The green portal tile must be connected to a room with doors.
  • You may create another disconnected area of rooms, but that area must include a room with a mirror.
  • You may add the Laboratory / Kitchen tile if you want more rooms in play.
  • You can make the Library even larger by combining room tiles from another expansion or main game.
  • You can only have one green portal tile in play.

This lets players keep the familiar 3 × 3 layout for fast games, or build a stranger, wider mansion when they want a bigger session.

Three Ways to Change the Game

The Collector’s Expansion gives groups multiple ways to increase danger, add new rewards and shift the feel of a session.

Horror in the Garden

Step beyond the mansion walls for the first time. Horror in the Garden takes players into a dangerous Garden Maze of double-sided tiles, moving monsters, new Blessings and Curses, and fresh strategic choices.

Choose whether to use the lighter or darker sides of the Garden Tiles. Brave the Hot House for extra danger and extra reward. Use the Trellis to hunt the Mad Professor’s special flowers — if the display has not changed.
